A Woman’s Worth is a blog that aims a black intersectional feminist lens on race, women’s issues, life, and the image of Black women in the media.
The blog started when I was a soon-to-be graduate currently writing my thesis in the English: Writing and Rhetoric program at Pepperdine University.
My research focused on the image of black women in hip hop. I explored the image of women in hip hop. In addition, I looked at how a rapper’s ethos is built on a racist, sexist, and homophobic ideology.
I read a lot on Marxist theory, capitalism’s role in hip hop, Black feminism, and Hip Hop feminism.
I turned in the 25-page thesis in April 2013, but I’m still reading, writing and learning all that I can. I bring my ideas to A Woman’s Worth.
Any suggestions??? Let me know!
